Johnson Controls builds automobile battery production base in Tianjin

Johnson Controls, the world's leading automotive battery supplier, recently held a signing ceremony for its new automotive battery production base investment framework agreement in Tianjin. The total project investment is expected to reach US$200 million. “China’s automobile industry is in a period of rapid development. Our Tianjin project reflects Johnson Controls’ commitment to the Chinese market.” said Alex Molinaroli, President of Johnson Controls Energy Power Group. “We expect that In 2015, China will sell 25 million new cars every year. The new production base is a testament to Johnson Controls’ emphasis on the Chinese market in terms of corporate strategy.”    It is reported that the Tianjin production base of Johnson Controls will start from the second half of 2012 to 2013. Construction started during the first half of the year and is expected to be officially put into production at the end of 2014. After full capacity operation, the annual output of batteries will exceed 6 million sets. According to the strategic plan, by 2017, Johnson Controls' battery production capacity in China will increase to 30 million sets per year. Johnson Controls' Zhejiang Changxing plant has been put into production in 2011, and the new plant in Chongqing will also be officially put into production in the second half of this year. In addition, through global acquisitions in 2005, the company has a factory in Shanghai. (
