Battery internal resistance test and maintenance method

by:Power Kingdom     2021-07-13

From the user's point of view, the purpose of battery testing is to determine the state of health (SOH) and state of charge (SOC) of the battery to determine whether the battery needs to be replaced, and the purpose of battery testing is to determine whether the battery needs to be charged. I think this is the core of the battery maintenance test. For more than ten years, the domestic and foreign industries have been trying to find a suitable detection method for users, in an engineering environment, rather than in a laboratory. At present, the maintenance detection method with internal resistance test as the core has been widely used at home and abroad.

The following are some of our testing experience over the years:

1 .Correctly understand the standard value of internal resistance.

A battery model, its initial internal resistance is determined, you can use a battery condition tester to measure the initial internal resistance, and then affix a label to the battery. 'The battery state tester of the battery company corrects the initial internal resistance value for comparison according to the battery's life, charging state and temperature at the time of the test. When the internal resistance test value is higher than 40% of the initial value, it can be concluded that the battery has broken or will soon deteriorate. In fact, the internal resistance of damaged batteries far exceeds 40%, usually more than twice the original.

  2. Correctly understand the inherent capacity, retention capacity and charging status.

The inherent capacity is the maximum amount of energy the battery can store.

Reserved capacity is the energy value that the battery can provide under current conditions.

Charging state refers to how little energy the battery actually accepts.

The reduction of the battery's inherent capacity and insufficient charging will result in a reduction of the reserved capacity.

The ability to hold is the value we really care about.

The evaluation of retention capacity is very complicated, and retention capacity is actually just a vague concept because people are talking about it.

When maintaining the capacity, it is generally not mentioned that the capacity is maintained at a certain discharge rate and a certain temperature, but different discharge rates and certain temperature retention capabilities are different. But it doesn't matter, we can roughly judge the state of charge based on the terminal voltage, and then calculate the special battery holding capacity at room temperature based on the change in the inherent capacity.

The ambient temperature of substation and communication base station is close to 25°, and the evaluation value of the state of charge in the floating charging state is close to 100%. Be careful. I'm talking about the starting voltage, not the floating charge voltage measured online. Contact: 18038382979
