Common problems of batteries and their key causes

1. Short circuit fault

Status: One or more single operating voltages in the rechargeable battery are low.

Reason: There are burrs or lead slag on the positive and negative plates, or the baffle is damaged, the positive and negative plates are off the switch, and overcharging the battery will also cause a double short circuit failure.

2. Broken pole

Status: The whole battery has no working voltage, but a single working voltage is normal.

Reason: As the pole is installed in the entire process due to its deformation caused by ground stress, long-term use, coupled with vibration caused the pole to rupture; or the pole and the pole have their own shortcomings such as cracks. At the time of starting, the high current caused part of the temperature or even fire, which caused the pole to fuse.

3. Grid corrosion

Status: Accurately measure some single cells or the overall no working voltage or working voltage is too low, query the grid in the battery becomes brittle, broken or completely broken .

Causes of formation: high current, battery charging voltage is too high, leading to battery charging, or long-term use in high temperature standards, accelerating the rate of grid erosion.

4. Polar plate de-powdering (positive plate de-powdering, negative plate de-powdering)

Status: single working voltage or total working voltage is too low, rechargeable battery positive and negative electrode plates The active substance drops to produce a paste accumulation.

The main reason is that the electrode plate is loose or the battery is overcharged.

5. Irreversible sulfation

Status: the single working voltage or the overall working voltage is too low, the negative plate has a thick layer of milky white chemical substance (pbso4), it does not charge when charging, It is even charged with a certain amount of electricity, but cannot be discharged.

Reason: ①Overcharge and discharge; 2 long-term storage of non-rechargeable batteries; 3 lithium batteries lack electrolyte; 4 single grid short-circuit failures led to irreversible potassium sulfate single battery.

6. Insufficient capacity

State: The initial charge and discharge time is not enough, or the charge and discharge are stopped, which is seen in closed rechargeable batteries.

Reason:

(1) False welding of the auricle, false welding of the pole nail;

(2) Insufficient acid or low addition;

(3) The positive electrode passivation increases the internal resistance of the battery.

7. Leaking acid (closed battery)

Status: Polyacid on the battery cover or acid outside the battery shell

Reason:

(1) The residual acid is not removed from the cover;

(2) The cell shell is broken; (caused by collision or solvent)

(3) The polymer in the rechargeable battery acid.

8. Thermal runaway

Status: battery bulging

Reason:

New rechargeable battery: insufficient cooling measures after acid; charging The battery is less acid or the battery is charging.

Rechargeable battery:

(1) Rechargeable battery has low acidity;

(2) Battery working voltage is too high;

(3) Excessive current;

(4) Charge and discharge without maintenance (overcharge and discharge).
